Salaam Gains 395 Yards in LJCD Win

Rashaan Salaam ran for a Eight-Man San Diego Section record 395 yards and seven touchdowns in La Jolla Country Day’s 65-37 victory over Bishop’s in the 1-A Championship at Mira Mesa High. Salaam scored on runs of 35, 63, nine, 48 and three of 55 yards. LJCD finishes the season 11-0, Bishop’s ended the year at 9-2.

Rancho Buena Vista 53, Sweetwater 20-Markeith Ross rushed 26 times for 271 yards and five touchdowns. He went over 5,000 yards for his career, 5028. Sweetwater held a 7-0 lead when John Vaeena recovered a Ross fumble in the end zone. Derrick Breaux also rushed for a four-yard score. Rancho rushed for 402 yards.
