Britain Tightens Seat Belt Law for Riders in Back

LONDON — Britain will make it compulsory for passengers in the back seats of cars to wear seat belts where these are installed, the government said Friday.
Junior Transport Minister Christopher Chope told Parliament the law, to become effective July 1, would save at least 100 lives and prevent 1,000 serious injuries every year.
