Coaches Say Titan Women’s Team Will Finish Third in Conference

LOS ANGELES — The Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team has been picked by coaches to finish third in the Big West Conference, the highest preseason ranking in Coach Maryalyce Jeremiah’s six years at the school.
UC Irvine, trying to rebound from a 1-27 season, was picked to finish last.
Fullerton, which has one of the conference’s top returning players in senior center Genia Miller, was rated behind conference favorite Cal State Long Beach and defending champion Nevada Las Vegas.
Miller averaged 23.9 points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots last season to lead the Titans to a 14-14 record and a fifth-place finish in conference.
“I’m trying not to be too optimistic about this year, but I am excited about it,” Jeremiah said. “We want to be competitive with everyone.”
