The Pacific Symphony has announced the winners of its Young Soloists Competition: violinist Corinne Chapelle, 14; violinist Cindy Lin, 17; and flutist Winslow Taub, 16. The three--who are residents of Irvine--will play as soloists in high school concerts today and Thursday under the direction of Lucas Richman, the Pacific’s assistant conductor. Dates for additional spring concerts will be announced.
“Bash ‘90,” the 20th annual festival sponsored by the Orange County Musicians Union, Local 7 of the American Federation of Musicians, grossed “well above $15,000,” union secretary-treasurer Bob Stava said Tuesday. The event, held Sunday at the Red Lion Inn in Costa Mesta, enlisted about 300 local musicians and drew between 1,200 and 1,300 people, Stava said Tuesday.
After paying expenses for sound equipment rental and other charges, remaining money will go into the Musicians’ Emergency Relief and Scholarship funds. Last year, the Bash cleared about $9,000, and Stava said he expects the net this year to exceed that figure.
