On The Sidelines : Pabst Casts Lure for Brewers
MILWAUKEE — The nation’s largest distributor of Pabst beer products has offered to donate the proceeds of all the beer it sells at County Stadium next year in an effort to help keep the Brewers in Milwaukee.
Beloit Beverage Co., which supplies about a fifth of the beer sold at the stadium, would place the money in a fund, company officials said.
Based on last year’s sales, the one-year amount would be $200,000, but the company’s general manager, Brian Morello, said his family was willing to donate up to $1 million.
Morello said his family discussed the matter last Thursday night, a day after the Brewers issued a statement saying that the franchise and its plans to build a new stadium were in jeopardy.
