The Angels’ Chuck Finley and Randy Johnson of the Seattle Mariners combined for a no-hitter and the Atlanta Braves’ Greg Olson hit a three-run home run as the U.S. all-stars defeated Japan, 5-0, in Tokyo Sunday in the final game of their exhibition series.
Japan won four games, the United States won three and there was one tie.
Finley struck out five and walked three in five innings. Johnson struck out four and walked two in four innings.
Ken Griffey Jr. was named the series’ most valuable player. He had eight hits in 19 at-bats, including a home run.
