COUNTYWIDE : Recycling Program for Used Motor Oil
As part of a pilot program to encourage recycling of used motor oil, the Orange County Fire Department has designated six sites in the county where residents can drop off used motor oil.
In Newport Beach, residents can take up to 5 gallons of oil to the Chevron Station at 2546 E. Coast Highway from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. There is a $1 environmental disposal fee for anyone dropping off oil.
Chevron stations in Fullerton, Irvine, Orange and Tustin are also participating in the program.
The pilot program will run until April 30, 1991, at which time Chevron and fire officials will evaluate the program. Fire Department officials hope that if successful, it can serve as model for an extended county or statewide program.
