IRVINE : Healthy Eating Is Subject of Lecture
A man who suffered a heart attack and underwent open-heart surgery at age 32 will speak Thursday at Irvine Medical Center on his favorite subject: how to eat right for a healthy heart.
Joseph Piscatella, 45, will address a 12:30 p.m. seminar geared specifically to senior citizens and a 7 p.m. session for the general public. Both lectures, sponsored by the hospital, are free, but reservations are required.
Doctors told Piscatella, a Tacoma resident, that he brought on his heart attack by eating a diet high in cholesterol and fat.
He has since changed his ways and has written books on maintaining a healthy heart through a proper diet. He is currently taping a six-part public television series on health.
