NEW YORK — Stephen Bochco’s “Cop Rock,” the police show set to music, has been canceled after its Dec. 26 broadcast, ABC announced today.
The series from the creator of “L.A. Law” and “Hill Street Blues,” was an experimental series that tried to use four or five musical numbers per hourlong episode to push the plot along in a sort of musical “Hill Street.”
Robert A. Iger, president of ABC Entertainment, said in making the announcement:
“In ‘Cop Rock’ Stephen Bochco delivered a daring and brilliantly produced series, one all of us at ABC are proud to be associated with.”
