Gustav Weder and Curdin Morell of Switzerland won the two-man bobsled competition in the first World Cup event of the season at Calgary, Canada’s Olympic Park. Their combined time for two runs was 1:55.24.
In his international bobsled debut over a regulation 1,500-meter course, Edwin Moses of Newport Beach, a two-time Summer Olympic gold medalist in the intermediate hurdles, teamed with veteran driver Brian Shimer of Naples, Fla., to finish eighth in 1:56.33. They were first among three U.S. teams. The four-man competition is scheduled for Saturday.
