Long Beach : Police Review Commission Training Open to the Public
The newly created Long Beach Citizen Police Complaint Commission is in the midst of training and the public is invited to listen in.
On Saturday, representatives from complaint commissions in Richmond and San Diego, along with a representative from the U.S. Department of Justice, will discuss police review issues with the new commissioners.
The group also expects to hear presentations from the International Assn. of Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement, the Police Department and representatives from the local black, Latino, Asian and gay and lesbian communities.
The 11-member commission, which voters approved last April to oversee complaints of police brutality, will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Bach Branch Library, 4055 Bellflower Blvd.
