Following are reviews of selected screenings in the Los Angeles Festival’s final weekend:
Matinee
Mexico Saturday 4 p.m. at Million Dollar Theater, 307 S. Broadway Jaime Humberto Hermosillo’s “Matinee” is a tense, hard-driving adventure in which two young boys inadvertently become involved with an inept but dangerous pack of thieves, an experience that affects the two quite differently. It’s amazing that this 1977 Mexican film hasn’t been remade in Hollywood.
