RACING BRIEFS : Lay Down Will Run at Arlington
CHICAGO — Ogden Mills Phipps’ Lay Down and Mark Levy’s Triteamtri head a field of six in Saturday’s $100,000-added Washington Park Handicap at Arlington International Racecourse.
The New York-based Lay Down, a 6-year-old Spectacular Bid gelding, has won two of six starts this year: the 1 1/4-mile Excelsior Handicap at Aqueduct and the recent seven-furlong Forego Handicap at Saratoga. Last March he was a good third in the Gulfstream Park Handicap in Florida.
Triteamtri scored in the recent 1 1/8-mile Budweiser Breeders’ Cup at Thistledown in Ohio. Before that he was second to Beau Genius in the $250,000 Arlington Challenge Cup.
Lay Down and Triteamtri are weighted at 115 pounds apiece, as is Western Playboy. The latter is winless in nine starts this season but has been second twice and third twice in stakes.
