‘Ghost’ Not Fading Out at Box Office : Movies: ‘Darkman’ second, ‘Presumed Innocent’ third in slow weekend.

It was a sleepy weekend at the box office, with “Ghost” scaring up the only real business. With ticket sales of about $6.5 million, the romantic fantasy from Paramount Pictures has earned more than $132 million after nine weeks.

Universal Pictures’ “Darkman”--a “Phantom of the Opera”-like thriller about a disfigured scientist--was ranked second with ticket sales of an estimated $3.9 million.

Third place went to Warner Bros.’ courtroom drama, “Presumed Innocent,” which had ticket sales of about $3.5 million.

Columbia Pictures’ “Flatliners,” about death experimentation by young medical students starring an ensemble cast headed by Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts, earned about $3.2 million for fourth place.

Triumph Releasing’s “Men at Work,” the comedy-drama directed by Emilio Estevez who stars with brother Charlie Sheen, was fifth with ticket sales of about $1.8 million.

Rounding out the weekend’s top 10, in estimated figures: “Taking Care of Business” (Buena Vista), $1.6 million; “My Blue Heaven” (Warner Bros.), $1.5 million; “Air America” (Tri-Star), $1.4 million; “Wild at Heart” (Samuel Goldwyn), $1.3 million, and “Exorcist 3” (20th Century Fox), $1.2 million.
