Some ‘Cures’ for ‘Home Sick’ Sufferers
Regarding your article about renters being unable to purchase a home, the first thing these people must do is sacrifice their egos and snobbish attitudes.
The renters who claim they can’t get ahead because of high rents do not elicit much sympathy from me. They can pay 50% less for the same apartment in older, perhaps a more ethnically diverse, but safe neighborhood. Instead they opt for the “right address.”
How do I know? I own a small apartment building in one of these areas and constantly show apartments to this elitist group, who want it all. So, they might as well prepare themselves for lifelong stress, whereas 4 of my 12 tenants have now gone on to be proud homeowners in a very short time.
