Hawthorne 20, Antelope Valley 6--Hawthorne quarterback Jamil Williams connected with Tarrick Brock on touchdown passes of 52 and 28 yards to lead the Cougars at home.
Antelope Valley quarterback Mike Fossati sat out the game with a shoulder separation he sustained a week ago. He is expected to miss at least one more game. In his place, Freddy Edwards completed three of eight passes for one yard and rushed for six yards in eight carries.
Antelope Valley’s Chelsa Blanks led all rushers with 71 yards in 17 carries and accounted for 74 of the team’s 101 total yards. Kicker Peter Holt connected on field goals of 46 and 33 yards for the Antelopes.
Williams connected on three of nine passes for 120 yards. Teammate Armando Fernandez rushed for 58 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Morel Ollis added 56 yards to help lead the Hawthorne ground attack.
