Alaska Airlines to Boost Fares: Alaska Air Group Inc., the Seattle-based carrier’s parent company, announced that it will raise fares by 4.7% effective Oct. 1 in the wake of the Persian Gulf crisis. The increase follows a 5.3% hike the company and other airlines instituted last week.
