FULLERTON — Cal State Fullerton has named a selection committee to choose a new baseball coach, Fullerton associate athletic director Steve DiTolla said Friday.
The committee consists of Larry Ward, a professor of communications at the school; Tony Harnack, a student; Marlon Sano, Titan assistant women’s volleyball coach; Michael Watkins, a Titan Athletic Foundation representative who is a Newport Beach businessman, and Leanne Grotke, Fullerton associate athletic director.
“Chances are, we’ll meet some time in the middle of next week and come up with a game plan for dealing with the applicant pool,” DiTolla said.
DiTolla said the school has received about 30 applications for the job, which became vacant when Larry Cochell resigned July 3 to become the coach at Oklahoma.
The application deadline is Aug. 3, after which the committee will screen applicants and begin interviews. DiTolla said the school hopes to name a new coach by mid-August.
