Black & Decker Corp.: The Towson, Md. power-tool company reported second-quarter net income of $16.1 million, contrasted with a loss of $5.2 million last year. Revenue rose 44% to $1.22 billion. Figures for the latest period were boosted partly by results for two Black & Decker units previously held separately as businesses for sale. But the company also benefitted from lower interest expenses and improving sales of locks, hardware and tools.
