The Bellflower City Council has approved a two-year extension of its contract for a local fixed-route bus system, and the replacement of two older buses with new, wheelchair-equipped buses.
Bellflower’s “The Bus” system, a fleet of four 20-passenger buses that has been operating in the city since November, 1985, will now be made up of three wheelchair-equipped buses, said Craig Nealis, assistant city manager.
Nealis said “The Bus” ridership has exceeded 18,000 passengers a month. The fare is 25 cents.
