NATION : Quayle to Attend Akihito Rites

WASHINGTON — Vice President Dan Quayle will represent the United States at the enthronement of Japan’s Emperor Akihito, a spokesman said today.
The ceremonial coronation of Akihito will take place Nov. 12, following Japanese protocol that it occur one year after the death of his father, Emperor Hirohito.
