Lewis E. Lehrman, a 1982 Republican candidate for governor of New York, will become chairman of Bell Mueller Cannon Inc., a Washington-based economic consulting firm. Lehrman, a strong advocate of returning the nation to the gold standard, left his position as a managing director at Morgan Stanley & Co., a New York investment firm.
