Fireman’s Fund Sues Irvine’s Wespercorp

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. on Tuesday filed a $485,000 breach-of-contract lawsuit against Wespercorp, an Irvine computer parts company, Wespercorp officials said.
In a suit filed in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana, Fireman’s Fund is seeking to recover funds that it paid to Citizens Utilities Co. in Stamford, Conn., in November, 1986. The payments were made in settlement of a dispute related to a contract in which Wespercorp was to provide billing systems to Citizens Utilities.
Wespercorp indemnified the payments by Fireman’s Fund. But when Fireman’s Fund asked for repayment in 1989, Wespercorp said it did not have the cash to satisfy the obligation.
