An unidentified man was struck and killed in the northbound lanes of Interstate 805 just south of Imperial Avenue in San Diego early Monday morning, police said.
According to Joe Wolf, a California Highway Patrol officer, a northbound driver who saw the man walking west across the freeway about 6 a.m. swerved, but hit him anyway.
The victim, estimated to be 35 years old, was dead at the scene.
