WESTMINSTER : Traffic Light, Ramp Improvements Due

The city and county will spend almost $400,000 during the next several months to improve traffic in and around Westminster, officials said.
Two projects will ease congestion by widening freeway ramps and coordinating traffic signals through a central computer, Public Works Director Don Vestal said.
Freeway ramps included in the project are those connecting Bolsa Chica Road to the Garden Grove and San Diego freeways. Construction should begin within 60 days.
Traffic signals along Bolsa Avenue, Bolsa Chica Road, Westminster Boulevard, Golden West Street and Garden Grove Boulevard will be coordinated and linked with Fountain Valley’s traffic computer.
About half of the cost for the project will be paid by the Orange County Unified Transportation Trust, which provides matching funds for local improvements proposed by cities, Vestal said.
“We expect a lot smoother traffic flow and decreased delay on those arterial streets included in the projects,” he said.
