Athletic Director Larry Templeton of Mississippi State says no coaches or full-time athletic department employees were involved in a gambling ring on the university’s campus.
A three-week investigation into gambling within the athletic department also showed that “less than 12” former athletes bet on games or acted as debt collectors for a bookmaker, Templeton said.
Those former athletes accounted for “probably less than 5% of the people involved in both cases,” he said, “They were not student-athlete gambling rings.”
