NATION : 2 Soviets Arrested in Gun Plot

TAMPA, Fla. — Two Soviet emigres were arrested in an alleged plot to smuggle assault weapons to Moscow for sale on the black market, federal officials said today.
Alexandre Mikouline, 51, was arrested Monday at Tampa International Airport, where he was waiting to board a flight to Washington, D.C., and Moscow.
An hour later, Georgy Kuparadze, 50, was arrested at a St. Petersburg Beach condominium. Both faced preliminary felony charges of conspiring to provide false information to a gun dealer.
