O’Bannon, Leslie Head South All-Stars
Artesia’s Ed O’Bannon and Lisa Leslie of Inglewood Morningside, the national high school basketball players of the year, will lead the South teams today at the Fabulous 44 California Prep Classic at the Bren Center in Irvine.
The girls’ game starts at 1 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 3:30.
O’Bannon, a 6-foot-8 forward who has committed to Nevada Las Vegas, averaged 26 points and 11 rebounds last season, leading Artesia to the State Division II title.
Leslie, a 6-5 center who will attend USC, led Morningside to the State Division I title.
Also on the South team are Santa Clara’s Shon Tarver (who will attend UNLV), El Cajon Christian’s Tony Clark (Arizona) and Capistrano Valley’s Scott McCorkle (Syracuse).
The North team includes Dwayne Fontana of San Francisco Riordan (Arizona State), Northern California player of the year.
