Nolan Ryan has bought the Danbury State Bank in Danbury, Tex., 13 miles south of his hometown of Alvin.
“It’s the greatest thing that ever happened to this bank,” bank president Annette Mandola said. “I can’t imagine us working for him.”
Ryan, a pitcher for the Texas Rangers, purchased the bank, the only one in Danbury, a town of 1,500, from a group of investors in the El Campo and Louise area in Brazoria County.
The purchase price was undisclosed. But the bank has $10.9 million in assets and $9.3 million in deposits. And Ryan is the sole owner.
