SHORT TAKES : Actor Gets Real in Drugs Fight

YAKIMA, Wash. — Armed with golf clubs rather than a gun, the actor who portrays “Twin Peaks” FBI Agent Dale Cooper has joined his hometown’s war on drugs.
Actor Kyle MacLachlan will appear at a celebrity golf tournament Saturday to raise money for local drug-fighting efforts.
MacLachlan plans to take Lara Flynn Boyle, a co-star on the ABC-TV series, and other actor friends to the tournament at the Yakima Country Club.
Country singer Reba McEntire is the featured performer at a fund-raising concert for the cause in the SunDome tonight.
Organizers hope to raise about $50,000 for city anti-drug programs.
