Another 5-gallon container washed up on an Encinitas beach Tuesday, just four days after a similar container of hydraulic fluid was found on Moonlight Beach, officials said.
Tom Borgeson, a spokesman for the Encinitas Fire Department, said a city parks employee found the drum about 1:30 p.m. in the sand near the bluffs on Beacon’s Beach. The metal container was swollen from being in the sun but was not leaking, he said.
The container bears a warning label and a Chevron logo, but no other identifying marks, Borgeson said.
The Naval Investigative Service will analyze the contents and try to determine the container’s origins, said Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Smallwood, a Navy spokesman.
