P.M. BRIEFING : Taiwan Stocks at 17-Month Low

TAIPEI — Taiwan’s battered stock market hit a 17-month low today as share prices plunged in what analysts called a crisis of confidence.
Dealers said the market had breached a key support level and was in danger of going into a free fall.
“It’s a confidence crash,” said Matthew Wang of Excelsior Securities. “We can hardly see any support unless investors have confidence.”
