SHORT TAKES : Oprah to Host Daytime Emmys

Oprah Winfrey, whose series has won three consecutive Outstanding Talk-Service Program Emmy Awards, will host the 17th annual Daytime Emmy Awards from the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York Thursday on ABC.
Game show producer Mark Goodson is scheduled to receive a Lifetime Achievement Emmy. With William S. Todman, he created “To Tell the Truth,” “Password,” “I’ve Got a Secret,” “The Price Is Right,” “Play Your Hunch,” “Match Game,” “Showoffs,” “Card Sharks,” “Blockbusters,” “Family Feud,” “Body Language,” “Tattletales,” “Child’s Play,” “Trivia Trap,” “Classic Concentration,” “What’s My Line?” and others.
CBS tops this year’s Daytime Emmy nominees with 74, followed by ABC with 39; NBC, 30; PBS, 29; syndicated, 29; Disney, 2; HBO and MTV, 1 each.
Series leading with multiple nominations of 14 each are “Guiding Light” and “The Young and the Restless.”
