Gender Factor in November Governor’s Race
Feinstein amazes me. Her entire platform appears to be “vote for me, I’m a woman.’ On June 6, she was asked by television reporters to comment on her handwritten “You’re wonderful” at the bottom of an old letter to her Republican opponent, Sen. Pete Wilson.
Instead of the many politically neutral answers she could/should have given, she instead responded, “Men like to hear that sort of thing!”
I’m sure it was meant in jest, but had the sexes been reversed, the male politician would have been crucified by the women’s movement before the echoes of his comment died.
