Conserving Water--the Contradictions
I feel as a military wife that Orange County residents have a right to know that the majority of residents in military housing waste water. This concerns me, but when I have approached housing (officials) in the past, they say don’t worry.
Yesterday we received guidelines for watering. At this time, all I have to do is look out my windows and see people breaking them. There are some who daily hose down their driveways. In fact, you can be sure if you overwater (more than 10 minutes to a spot) you have a very good chance of receiving the “yard of the month” award presented by the general. I have seen it happen on three different occasions.
I wonder what it is going to take for residents in housing to realize how precious water is. I wonder how long until housing inspectors stop and reprimand instead of driving by. To me, base housing is a privilege and not something to be abused.
