Airport Woes
San Diego’s airport problems will never be resolved if common sense, and not politics, can’t prevail. Twenty years and innumerable studies and money have gone down the drain.
In the meantime, developers are gobbling up open space, tourism suffers, business suffers and local officials spin their wheels.
City Councilman Ron Roberts’ commentary (“What Is The Best Solution to San Diego’s Nagging Airport Problems?” May 20) is exactly right. The binational concept is not an impossibility. What’s needed is an open-minded approach and some persistence by organizations on both sides of the border to find and work out the solution.
These groups do exist and only need to be brought together. It’s time to be realistic and accomplish the obvious.
