Adele Naude Santos was appointed Friday as the founding dean of a new School of Architecture at UC San Diego.
The approval came from the UC Board of Regents, meeting on the UCSD campus.
Santos, a Philadelphia architect and professor of architecture and urban design at the University of Pennsylvania, is to head a school that will begin accepting students in the fall of 1992. The UC system has two other architecture programs, at Berkeley and Los Angeles.
