Supreme Court Strikes Down Law Against Flag Burning
I believe that flag burning is treason and treason is not protected by the First Amendment.
If someone stands up and calls the President of the United States a crook, that’s free speech and should be protected by the First Amendment. If someone wants to say that Congress is filled with idiots, that is also his right and has to be protected.
However, when someone desecrates the American flag he is in effect repudiating the entire system which the flag represents and that’s treason not free speech.
I agree with President Bush’s proposal for a constitutional amendment making flag burning a crime.
