Thomas E. Dokter will return to the Broadway-Southern California department stores as president, effective July 15. Dokter, 51, currently is president and chief executive of the Broadway-Southwest, a sister subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Carter Hawley Hale Stores.
Before taking that job last year, Dokter was the Southern California chain’s executive vice president-merchandising for two years. In his new role, Dokter will assume responsibility for merchandising and sales promotion. The Broadway-Southern California’s executive vice president for merchandising position, which has been open for five months, will not be refilled.
The current president of Broadway-Southern California, Richard Clayton, 47, will become vice chairman of the division. He will remain in charge of operations, including distribution, store security and credit.
The shifts come two months after H. Michael Hecht, chairman and chief executive of Broadway-Southern California, was given the additional position of executive vice president of Carter Hawley Hale. The company said Hecht’s principal duty will continue to be the head of Broadway-Southern California.
Succeeding Dokter as head of Broadway-Southwest will be Carol Greer, 47, currently senior vice president and general merchandise manager at Rich’s department stores in Atlanta.
