Former A&P; Executive, 5 Others Settle Charges: Alan Goulding, 60, a former chief operating officer of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., settled insider trading charges along with five others. The Securities and Exchange Commission sued the men, alleging that they illegally passed tips about the company’s takeover plans. The charges involve trading in shares of supermarket chains A&P;, Shopwell, Delchamps and Waldbaum. The men agreed to pay total penalties of $1.3 million, repay illegal profits of $513,881 and interest on those profits of $189,880.
