Free Hazardous Waste Roundup Scheduled
West Valley residents will be able to dispose of household hazardous waste such as paint and poison today in a free city-sponsored program at the West Valley Municipal Building.
Substances that are barred from conventional landfills--such as paint, varnish, poison, fertilizer, medicine, batteries and cleaning products--will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the city facility at 19040 Vanowen St., Reseda. Jackie Brainard, a spokeswoman for Councilwoman Joy Picus, said the waste should be placed in cardboard boxes, left in original containers and not mixed.
