OAK VIEW : Man Escapes Thieves by Jumping on Car
A 32-year-old man said he was kidnaped and robbed alongside a road in Oak View Thursday night but escaped by jumping onto the hood of a passing car, authorities said Friday.
Chris Bersach, 32, of Glendale said he was riding from San Luis Obispo to Glendale with two acquaintances about 10:30 p.m. when they told him that they were going to beat and rob him, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Joe Funchess said.
The two men drove onto California 33 from the Ventura Freeway and parked next to the highway. They took Bersach’s wallet and began beating him, Funchess said.
Bersach jumped onto the hood of a car and was taken to a service station, where sheriff’s officers were called, Funchess said. He was treated for head injuries at the Ojai Valley Community Hospital. The assailants were still at large.
