West Hollywood : Pact With Sheriff OKd
The City Council voted to approve a five-year contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department under the condition that the contract include language prohibiting the department from discriminating in its hiring on the basis of sexual orientation.
The language was sought by the city’s gay and lesbian activists. City officials say the Sheriff’s Department has indicated that it would accept contract, which must also be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
