Seth E. Schofield has been elected president and chief operating officer of USAir Inc., effective June 1. As president he succeeds Edwin I. Colodny, who will remain chairman and chief executive of USAir. Colodny also remains chairman and president of parent firm USAir Group. Schofield has been executive vice president-operations, vice chairman of the board and executive vice president of USAir Group. He will retain the latter two positions.
