COUNTYWIDE : CTA Backs Dean for County Schools Post
- Share via
The local chapter of the California Teachers Assn. has endorsed Whittier College professor John F. Dean for county superintendent of schools over incumbent Robert Peterson in the June 5 election.
The endorsement by the CTA--an umbrella group representing teachers’ unions statewide--is considered the most coveted in the county superintendent’s race. The CTA reached its decision to endorse Dean on Monday.
Dean, 63, is running for the nonpartisan seat against Peterson, 69, who has been county superintendent since 1966, and Ronald L. Detrick, 52, an administrator at National University in Irvine.
