An anesthesiologist accused of being under the influence of narcotics during surgeries in Los Angeles-area hospitals was barred from practicing medicine Thursday pending a June 4 hearing on whether his medical license should be revoked.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Edward Ross granted a temporary restraining order in a suit against Dr. Howard Siegel by the state attorney general’s office. The action alleged that Siegel took narcotics ordered for patients and was lethargic during operations.
Prosecutors said Siegel has been practicing at Midway Hospital and Westside Hospital in Los Angeles and Bellwood General Hospital and Bellwood Doctors Hospital in Bellflower.
