BOSTON — The Boston Celtics reportedly are interested in hiring Big East commissioner Dave Gavitt to run the team’s basketball operations, according to a published report.
The Boston Globe said today it was told by unidentified sources that the Celtics were talking with Gavitt about the position.
Executive Vice President and General Manager Jan Volk would not confirm or deny the team had contacted Gavitt and said the Celtics would not necessarily hire a head of basketball operations before naming a head coach.
The Celtics fired head coach Jimmy Rodgers on Tuesday.
