LOCAL : Acton Man Held in Gun Barrage
A 43-year-old Acton man was arrested this morning following a two-hour standoff with Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies which began when the man shot at deputies, authorities said.
John Patrick Sass was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at 4 a.m. and was being held without bail, Deputy Bill Wehner said.
Two hours earlier, deputies arrived at Sass’ home in the 5800 block of Hubbard Road after receiving reports of gunfire. As deputies approached the house, Sass fired several shots at them, Wehner said. No one was injured.
Deputies surrounded the house. After two hours of negotiating with Sass by telephone, the gunman surrendered, Wehner said. Deputies had not determined why Sass began firing his gun, he said.
