Tony Dees won the 110-meter high hurdles in a wind-aided 13.09 seconds at a track and field meet in Modesto.
The wind reading during the race was a positive 2.8 meters. Had the wind reading been under 2.0, Dees would have broken the meet record of 13.14 set by Roger Kingdom in 1985.
The wind also came between Shiela Hudson and an American record in the women’s triple jump. Hudson jumped a wind-aided 46-1 1/4.
