Two teen-agers escaped Juvenile Hall on Sunday afternoon and remained at large Sunday evening, Orange County sheriff’s deputies said.
Lt. J. Mendez of the Sheriff’s Department said deputies were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to look for the boys.
The youths, whose names are being withheld because they are minors, were described as Latinos, one 16 and the other 17. Both were said to have black hair and brown eyes.
They were wearing blue T-shirts and blue jeans and were apparently on foot, since their attempt to steal a bicycle was thwarted by a probation officer.
One of the youths was in custody at Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery and the other was being held for allegedly possessing a switch-blade and for violating his probation.
Authorities at Juvenile Hall, 331 The City Drive, would give no information about the escape.
